When a federal transport was ambushed and overturned in the wilds of Montana, MIDNIGHT agent Sean Cutter was given forty-eight hours to track down a desperate woman.  But falsely accused, Mattie Logan didn't want to be saved.  It was Sean's job to convince her otherwise.

A former Department of Defense scientist now targeted by the terrorist known only as the Jaguar, Mattie couldn't risk betrayal again.  But neither could Sean.  Caught out in the blistering cold, Mattie sought shelter beneath Sean's broad shoulders, each needing the other's warmth to stay alive.  But would trusting one another prove to be more difficult than clearing Mattie's name?

By day, quiet and reserved Samantha Peters worked for a high-end wedding planner.  By night she was a top-notch agent with Miami Confidential.  Then she met sexy Alex Graham after tragedy struck outside the Weddings Your Way salon, and Samantha had trouble keeping her two lives separate.

Being with Alex brought out Samantha's protective instincts--and the wild side she tried so hard to keep hidden--when she and Alex became the targets of a dangerous enemy. Samantha had to remain focused, or jeopardize the work and the team. After all, forming attachments to victims was wrong...even if being with Alex felt so right....

Loner and falconer Deke Falcon's mission is to find Elsie Timmons, a woman who went missing when she was four.  But he never expected to fall for the elusive mysterious woman, or to find her in the midst of a ten year old mystery surrounding the haunted orphanage, Wildcat Manor--a mystery that could get them both killed....

Congresswoman Kaye Miller didn't survive the honed jaws of politics to fall prey to a deadly hate crime.  So when sexy bodyguard Daniel DuCharme was assigned to protect her, they found themselves sharing every waking moment...and Kaye worried that his smoky blue eyes made her body feel anything but secure.

One look at her and Daniel DuCharme knew he'd gamble away his life salvaging Kaye's, even if it meant following a trail of blood into the treacherous Virginia woods.  Now, with a killer hungry for their precious lives, can the two lovers battle time in order to stop a global assassination?

When a confidential file was stolen from the prestigious Colby Agency, it was A.J. Braddock's mission to retrieve it.  His assignment: locate Gabrielle Jordan, the enigmatic woman who'd vanished with it.

Except he never expected to find her hiding out in Mexico, safeguarding two boys--the victims of a failed kidnapping plot.  But Gabrielle's fierce tenderness toward the youngsters stirred the ex-military man's own protective instincts....  Now, forced to rely on each other to stay alive, neither could resist the passion that simmered between them--leaving A.J. torn between duty and desire....

Question of the Month
Here is the question for the authors for May:

Which of your Intrigues was a story you could NOT leave untold? Why?

B.J. Daniels:
Over the years a lot of stories have demanded to be told. J.D. and Denver in Odd Man Out. Mitch and Charity in Mountain Sheriff. Hud and Dana in Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch. It is impossible to pick an all time favorite. Right now I'm writing about Hud Savage's cousin Dillon, a rustler who just got an early release from prison to help catch a band of cattle thieves (February 2007). At least that's what Dillon wants Stock Detective Jacklyn Wilde to believe.

I know this sounds crazy but it's the characters who demand to have their stories told. They just hang around and bug me until I give in, sit down and let them tell their stories. They're a pushy bunch, but I love them all and can't wait to hear some of the stories from my next big series, Whitehorse Montana (six books beginning next summer.)

Delores Fossen:
My July 2006 Intrigue, The Cradle Files. The hero, Garrett O'Malley, is a San Antonio cop who appeared in two other Intrigues, and I was so fascinated with him that I knew I had to do his story. The Cradle Files will also introduce a mini-series that I'll be doing in 2007 and 2008.

Mallory Kane:
My fourth Ultimate Agents book, Lullabies and Lies, February 06, has been in my head for years. The hero, Griffin Stone, doesn't believe in "happily ever after." When he was a young teen babysitting his toddler sister, she was stolen right from under his nose and he's never forgiven himself. When he is assigned to help Sunny Loveless find her missing infant daughter, he faces his worst nightmare. Griff haunted me until I told his story. In February, nine years after I first 'met' Griff, his story was published. What a thrill!

Sylvie Kurtz:
I would have to say A Rose At Midnight.  It's the most personal story I've written.  It reflects part of my heritage.  Quebec City is where my grandparents lived.  I've always loved how it feels as if you're in a different world when you're in the old historic part of the city.  The legend of Rose Latulippe is one I remember from my childhood--and scared me, though I'm not sure why (probably the horns on the devil's head :-)).  And of course, it's a gothic, and there's a special place in my heart for gothics with all their atmosphere and their triumph over the dark.  Look for my next gothic, Pull of the Moon (December 2006).

Elle James:
Dakota Meltdown couldn't go untold because the heroine has issues with her body I've had myself. As a child my heroine, Brenna, was burned in a barn fire. As an adult, she's very conscious of her body and her scars. On the outside she looks normal, beneath the uniform of a criminal investigator, lay the scars of her past. Opening herself to a man is something she doesn't take lightly. He has to be the right man, a man who can see beyond the scars to the person beneath. She has to learn she is pretty for who she was on the inside, not for what she looks like on the outside.

I wrote this character from my own experiences as a burn victim. I had my fourth birthday in the burn ward of Brooks Army Medical Center, San Antonio, with burns on over  1/3 of my small body. I spent the rest of my life trying to fit in and be normal. Thankfully, most of my scars were hidden beneath clothing. But deeper relationships were always difficult. Brenna's story had to be told and it ties in with the theme of Dakota Meltdown.

Dana Marton:
All the books I've written so far are books I couldn't leave untold. Once I get an idea in my head, the characters keep pestering me until I put their stories onto paper. Questions are buzzing around until I sit down and write the book and find the answers. In my current release, Protective Measures, Kaye kept popping up in my head, this young widow, very talented and brilliant woman, successful--completely inappropriately in love with her new bodyguard. She's older than he is, she's a public figure, she's his "employer" at the moment. Danny has just as many reasons to steer clear of her. He's in a top secret military commando--something he can never tell her about, she is his commander's goddaughter, she’s a congresswoman--way out of his league. They are very different people, but by the end of the story they both realize that the unbidden love between them is something so rare and wonderful it’s worth fighting for. (Even while they’re ducking bullets.)

Julie Miller:
Unsanctioned Memories (my 6th Taylor Clan book) was a story I'd always wanted to tell. The heroine, Jessica Taylor, was a rape survivor. To me, it was important to not only get the facts right about the emotional baggage and trust issues a woman in her position has to deal with, but to also show the resiliency most women possess when it comes to dealing with trauma and moving on with their lives. Plus, I wanted to show the light at the end of the tunnel--the healing powers of love, family, pets, counseling and faith. Of course, it helps to have an incredible hero like Sam O'Rourke to make the journey with you! But Jess was a smart woman--and strong in ways she never imagined she could be. I know a lot of smart, strong women who not only cope with adversity, but triumph over it. I can't help but admire and be inspired by them.

The heroine in my October Intrigue, Baby Jane Doe, is another strong woman--Police Commissioner Shauna Cartwright. She's haunted by an unsolved murder that has plagued KCPD for years. Like Jess Taylor, she's a survivor who has discovered an amazing well of strength inside her.

Kelsey Roberts:
His Only Son was a very personal story for me that ironically ended up with life imitating--kind of--one issue in the book.  The hero of the story desperately wants to adopt a child he's grown to love. A year after that book was released, my husband and I adopted a child, so the book will always have a special place in my heart.
