Carol Ericson To the utter amazement and horror of her two sons, Carol has always been a bookworm. She even won the “bookworm race” in fourth grade for reading the most books during the school year. Soon she discovered the gothic romances of Victoria Holt, and to the utter amazement and horror of her girlfriends, she once declined a date with a boy to read Ms. Holt’s newest arrival in the public library. After falling in love with the dark, brooding heroes and happy endings in romance novels, Carol knew she had to create those stories for others to enjoy. Before getting serious about writing romance, however, Carol got a degree in English literature and two masters’ degrees, one in English and one in clinical psychology, perfect for creating those multi-layered characters with deep, dark neuroses. Most of Carol’s jobs have involved working with words in one way or another, as she’s been a proofreader, editor, college English teacher, family therapist, and a technical writer. Carol loves to travel and has been all over the world, including Australia, Greece, Sweden, and many places in-between. Her very first trip overseas was a summer spent studying English literature at Oxford University. Carol lives with her husband, a cop and her go-to guy for research, their two sons, and their 200 lb. English Mastiff in southern California. Carol was thrilled to sell her first book, The Stranger and I, to Harlequin Intrigue in January 2007. In addition to nail-biting romantic suspense, Carol writes steamy erotic romance as Mia Varano.
